Gorski kotar is a region in northern part of Croatia, between Rijeka and Karlovac, two important Croatian cities. The biggest city of Gorski kotar county is Delnice – that´s also the highest city in Croatia. From Delnice you can easily reach National Park Risnjak, town Fužine, Mrkopalj and many hidden and unknown places and villages. National Park Risnjak is a place where you can enjoy fresh air and spend your day climbing and hiking. You can reach many viewpoints from where you can see Kvarner bay, Istria and even Alps in Slovenia! If you enjoy spending your time in pure nature, you will definitely love this place! All these places get covered with soothing snow blanket during wintertime.

Town Fužine is one of the most popular places to visit during winter season. Many people come here and celebrate New Year’s Eve at noon, and then later again at midnight. Locals organize the party in the center of town; there’s music, you can taste delicious homemade sausages and mulled wine

Another popular place to visit during winter season is Bjelolasica. It’s a mountain with the highest point called Kula with elevation of 1534 meters. Bjelolasica is one of the most popular skiing destinations in Croatia. Friendly local people offer accommodation for reasonable prices in big houses typical for that part of Croatia. There is nothing as relaxing as spending nights next to fireplace, drinking a glass of wine and watching the beauty of winter through the window…
