Opatija (called Abbazia in Italian) is a Croatian city located in Istria. It was a very popular sea resort during the 19th century, very posh and worldwide at this time, thanks to its ideal localisation and its mild climate. The city is quite little as it counts about 12.000 inhabitants. Bay laurel is ubiquitous in this area as there are many woods in the surroundings of Opatija. The whole area is very rocky. Whether in the summer or in the winter, Opatija and its surroundings are very picturesque all year long.
